In such a case, you are required to upgrade your laptop hard drive. By upgrading your hard drive, you can effectively increase the storage space of your laptop.
As it is, upgrading a laptop actually involves replacing your old hard drive with lesser space with a new hard drive with more space. As a matter of fact, these days, there are a number of laptop hard drives available in the market, which can even double or even triple your storage space. You will also need some software application, with the help of which you can transfer data from your old drive to the new drive, so much so that the new drive becomes an exact clone of the old hard drive. Apart from that, you will also need a way, by which you can attach your new hard drive to your laptop.
Now, before you go ahead with the upgrading, there are a few things that you need to do. First of all, you should clean up your old hard drive and delete all the unwanted files or programs, which you will not use anyway. This will lessen the time taken for transfer of data. You can also defragment the disk drive as well. Once you have done so, it is now time for you to go ahead with the data transfer process. Take your new hard drive and put it in the case. Safe handling is one of the most important aspects in this regard. Your laptop should be off. Now attach the drive and USB cable to the laptop and put in the disk-cloning software application and directly boot from the CD. With this, select the Automatic option and specify as to which drive is new and then select start. As it is, the transfer of data would take some time, and depending on the amount of data to be transferred, it may take half an hour to an hour or so. Now turn off the laptop and swap the old drive with the new drive. Your laptop hard drive upgrade is complete.
